Who We Are

Earth Observation Science plays a key role in monitoring environmental changes, resource management and sustainable development policies. There are three areas of science and technology that define current and future advances in these domains:

  • remote sensing
  • intelligent image analysis
  • spatio-temporal data management
  • The University of Alberta Centre for Earth Observation Sciences (CEOS) is a multi-disciplinary collaborative research network that consolidates the strengths and research excellence in these areas through the synergy of three distinct yet complementary groups:

  • Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences
  • Department of Computing Science
  • Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • CEOS aims to develop new provincial, national, and international activities to advance Canadian leadership in earth observation sciences and applications. CEOS is distinctive because it combines Alberta's strategic research and innovation pillars into a coherent research initiative.
